Overview: We undertake the fabrication of special purpose machinery to customer specification including systems with electric drives, electronic controls and pneumatics.

Mechanical Machinery: We have experience in the machining and fabrication of machine chassis, frameworks and panels as well as mechanical components such as spindles, shafts, gears, worms and sprockets. Working with a wide range of standard and specialist materials we can work to customer specification of a wide range of items upto 500kg for industries such as the food, automotive, water, pharmaceutical and rail sectors. As well as custom machining of parts for special purpose machinery we are also happy to source and assemble a wide range of off the shelf components such as drives, chains, cylinders, springs, hinges, locks and cables, to name a few.

Food Machinery: With over 30 years background in the Slough area we have years of experience with the food industry including confectionery and ready meal preparation. Some of our work has been on machinery for which we have been required to work on castings shipped over from the USA already with many hours work carried making the free issue component of high value. Customers use L Hodge Engineering because of our ability to handle difficult and demanding jobs that require extra care and more importantly, time. Work within the food sector requires attention to detail and finished workmanship of the highest quality. Our work includes machinery in stainless steel as well as copper, bronze and specialist aluminium alloys.

Pneumatic Machinery: Many of our projects have involved pneumatic systems for a wide range of processes from product movement through to motion control in manufacturing machinery including cutting, holding, forming, stretching and assembly. Pneumatic machinery is often used in food and chemical environments where electrical systems are unsuitable. We work to customer specifications although we are happy to either source components as well as work with free issue materials.

Motion Control: Whether electrical or pneumatic, most special purpose machinery involves motion control at the heart of its functionality, to exacting tolerance. We have years of experience in the fabrication and assembly of these types of special purpose machines including testing and commissioning. We can even provide training and ongoing support. Whilst working to customer specification and drawings we understand that by the very nature of a bespoke special purpose machine fine tuning and even design adjustments may have to be made. With out years of experience we can ensure that all motion and actions are precise and ontime. As a dynamic company we can often incorporate design modifications quickly allowing our customers a fluid manufacturing process through from conception and prototyping to snagging and trouble shooting.
